Clear Mindset – NDIS(3of)

We often get asked what is the difference between the NDIS and NDIA. The NDIA is an independent statutory agency and their role is to implement the NDIS (the scheme). The NDIS provides funding to Australians who have permanent and significant disability.

You also have the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission). This is an independent agency established to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services.

Tip – When dealing/interacting with any of the above entities, please be very patient (even if you’re a provider).

Under the NDIS scheme, participants have ‘choice and control’. If your plan is managed by the NDIA, do you have absolute ‘choice and control’?

Hint: We don’t think _ _ _ _!)

Did you know that if your plan is managed by the NDIA (sometimes referred to as Agency-managed), you can easily switch to Plan-managed or Self-managed?

There are many benefits in switching, such as a bigger pool of providers, greater freedom of choice etc.

Tip – For new participants, during application, indicate that you prefer to be Plan (or Self) managed.
